Sarah Caroline SUTTON, daughter of Isaiah and Anna McCAMEON Sutton, was born April 22, 1859 near Guion, Indiana. She was one of a large family having 7 sisters and one brother, of which all except two have preceded her in death. She became a member of the Christian Church at Waveland when a young woman. Although she did not attend church in later years she often spoke of the Church and followed its teachings. She was married to James JARVIS Sept 28, 1892 and their entire married life was spent on the farm where they lived at the time of her death. Mrs. Jarvis was of a cheerful, sociable disposition and derived great pleasure from meeting friends and acquaintances although she seldom left her home in later years. She was uncomplaining and made many sacrifices for her home and family. She was a kind and loving wife and mother and her passing left a place which can never be filled. She was suddenly stricken Thursday morning, and departed this life, Friday evening, Sept 25, 1936 at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 3 days. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Martha Jarvis of near Waveland and Mrs. Josephine Hester of Winterowd, Illinois; the husband, James Jarvis; two sons, Nathan and Omar Jarvis of near Waveland and three daughters, Rose Jarvis, Mrs. Fay Young of St. Louis Mo and Mrs Ethel O'Nan of Indianapolis. Funeral services were held at the home on Monday Morning at 10. Burial at Jarvis Cemetery. - transcribed by kbz
